Single OR Twin Cylinder?

FAQs

How it works

Considering which water softener is best for your home? Here we explain the difference between twin or single cylinder options.

When a single cylinder water softener needs to regenerate it will have to bypass itself to complete the process.

Whilst this happens any water drawn through your taps, washing machine or dishwasher will pull hard water back into your system of pipes.

This can be avoided if a twin cylinder water softener is installed, as the unit will only regenerate one cylinder at a time, leaving the other with softened water available for the home.

Please watch the video which demonstrates the difference between single cylinder and twin cylinder systems.

For a continuous supply of soft water, we would recommend a twin cylinder water softener such as the non-electric Kinetico or Harvey Water Softener.
